Launch of an online portal for work permits applications

As of Tuesday 6 April 2021, applications for work permits to hire foreign employees will have to be done online on a dedicated portal.  

 

This procedure applies to employers of foreignemployeeshired to work in France in the context of a salaried activity (except for applicants to the Talent Passport or the ICT seconded employees residence permit, who do not have to be issued a work permit).  

 

The application for a work permit is required in particular in order to be issued an “Employee” or “Temporary worker” residence permit. Citizens of European union or Schengen zone countries do not need to apply to a work permit to take up employment in France. 

 

Procedure 

Step 1: Online application for the work permit on the dedicated portal 

Step 2: Confirmation by e-mail that the application has been submitted 

Step 3: If the work permit is issued, the employer and the foreign employee will receive it by e-mail.  

Step 4: The future employee will have to attach the work permit to his/her visa and/or residence permit application.
